Adding Pages to Your U.S. Passport - Adults
If your full-validity, 10 year U.S. passport has not yet expired, but has no blank pages left for say additional Chinese visas, we can add additional pages for you free of charge. Here's what to do (see information on children, below):
Appointment
All services are provided by appointment only. Appointments are made online. Make Appointment!
Application Form
Please complete an application form DS-4085, available for download.
This form must be completed, and signed, by the adult passport holder him/herself.
You will need to use free Acrobat software to view and print this form. You can download the software.
Bring Your Passport to Us
Please bring your passport to us, by appointment. A third party, such as your helper or assistant, may also bring the passport in to our office instead of you, but you must be physically present in Hong Kong or Macau. Be sure, however, that you have signed the form yourself ahead of time.
Returning Your Passport
Barring any unusual circumstances, we can usually add pages to your passport in about an hour, while you wait.
If you prefer not to wait, we can also return your passport, usually within a day or so, via Hong Kong Post Courier for a small fee.
Adding Pages to Your U.S. Passport - Children
In addition to the items listed above, for all applicants under age 16 one parent must come to the Consulate in person, with his/her own passport. For all applicants under age 16, the parent, not the child, should sign the application form.
We Cannot Add Pages to a Limited Validity (One Year) Passport
We cannot add additional pages to a limited validity passport. Limited passports have a duration of less than 10 years (for adults) or less than 5 years (for children). If you run out of blank pages in a limited validity passport, you must apply for a new, full validity passport. Details on how to apply are elsewhere on our web site.
