CRAPSHOOT, THE GAMBLE WITH OUR WASTES

60 minutes, produced 2003 by the National Film Board of Canada.

This is a macro look at sewage systems today - the billions of gallons of water - combined with unknown quantities of chemicals, solvents, heavy metals, human waste and food - where does it all go? And what does it do to us?

The filmmaker takes us on an eye-opening journey around the world to explore different approaches to sewage, starting at the 2,500 year old Roman Cloaca Maxima, where it all began. Filmed in Italy, India, Sweden, the United States and Canada, this documentary questions whether the sewer is actually compounding our waste problems. What are the alternatives?
