Immigrant Visas

Case Transfer Request

From Consulate General Hong Kong to another Embassy/Consulate

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from Consulate General Hong Kong to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, we will need to receive a formal request from the Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, we will immediately forward the file for their processing. You should send a written request to the Embassy/Consulate where you wish to apply, explaining the reason for the transfer. It is also a good idea to include evidence of your legal permission to remain in the country where you wish to process the immigrant visa.

From another Embassy/Consulate to Consulate General Hong Kong

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred to Consulate General Hong Kong, you must submit a written request outlining the reason for the transfer. We will also need to see evidence of your ability to remain in Hong Kong or Macau during the duration of the visa process (Hong Kong/ Macau ID card or work visa.) You may either mail the request (U.S. Consulate General, Immigrant Visa Unit, 26 Garden Road, Hong Kong) or fax it to this office (+852-2147-3586). If we approve the transfer, we will contact the Embassy/Consulate that is currently maintaining your file to arrange for the transfer to Hong Kong.
