U.S. Consulate General Press Releases (1998)
New Internet Address for the U.S. Consulate General
News Release
July 8, 1998
Wednesday
The U.S. Consulate General has moved its Internet home page to a Hong Kong service provider, which should give local users quicker access to our web site and shorter download times. Our new Internet address is: http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov
The Consulate General's home page is a major source of information about the United States Government, the consulate in Hong Kong, and issues relating to American politics, economics, society and culture. We have also installed a search engine to make it easier to locate specific information and documents.
The broad spectrum of information available through the Consulate General home page includes the following:
- Information about various sections within the U.S. Consulate General, with links to the home pages of related departments in Washington.
- All news releases issued by the U.S. Information Service in Hong Kong.
- Contact information for U.S.-affiliated organizations in Hong Kong, such as offices of individual states, university alumni organizations, associations, and media.
- Contact information for organizations involved in educational advising for U.S. schools and colleges.
- General information about the United States government, overseas missions and social and economic statistics.
- Key government documents regarding U.S. relations with Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China.
- Information about U.S. economic and cultural ties with Taiwan.
- Texts of U.S. Government official texts, policy statements and interpretive material, features, and byline articles prepared daily by the United States Information Agency.
- U.S. Information Agency Electronic Journals, which are periodic publications that treat a particular subject area in depth (topics covered to date are Economic Perspectives, U.S. Foreign Policy Agenda, U.S. Society & Values, Global Issues, and Issues of Democracy).
We hope the press and public will find the home page convenient and useful. Any comments on how we can improve it would be most welcome, and can be directed by e-mail to uscghk@pacific.net.hk, or by fax to 2845-0735.
