Within a few days of the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center in New York, the Museum of the City of New York engaged Joel Meyerowitz, an internationally known photographer born in New York, to create an archive of the destruction and recovery at Ground Zero and the immediate neighborhood. The Museum and Mr. Meyerowitz selected a total of 28 images from this developing archive for a world tour presented by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department. All the photos in this resulting exhibition, entitled After September 11: Images from Ground Zero, are presented in a 30 inch x 40 inch format. They succinctly convey the magnitude of the destruction and loss and the heroic nature of the response. Please visit a special link to view images from the exhibit.
Admission is free. For more information about the exhibit or the artist, please call the Public Affairs Section at 2841-2258.
