BEGIN TEXT of U.S. Consul General Donovan's Kung Hei Fat Choy Message:

"My name is Joe Donovan, and I am the American Consul General for Hong Kong and Macau. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, I would like to extend, on behalf of the people of the United States, our warmest wishes for a healthy and happy New Year to the people of Hong Kong and Macau.

2009 is the Year of the Ox -- an animal that, in Chinese tradition, is associated with hard work, diligence, and productivity. A "Bull Market" on the stock exchange means prosperity and confidence. The current global economic crisis is a challenge that we all face. By working together, we can return to Bull Markets and mutual prosperity.

As President Obama said in his inaugural address, "Know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity."

Kung Hei Fat Choy!! Xin Nian Kuai Le!!"
