U.S. CONSULATE GENERAL JOINS THE GLOBAL "EARTH HOUR" CAMPAIGN

News Release
March 27, 2009
Friday

In support of Hong Kong's efforts to promote environmental awareness and conservation, the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong will participate in the global "Earth Hour" campaign, in which people from around the world will turn off their lights for one hour – 8:30-9:30 p.m. – on March 28, 2009. Many individual Consulate households have also pledged to shut down all non-essential lights and power consumption during "Earth Hour."

"We are pleased to join our friends and neighbors in the local community and world-wide in participating in ‘Earth Hour' 2009," said American Consul General Joseph Donovan. "America is committed to working with all nations to conserve resources and protect the environment of this planet we all call home," he added.
