In support of Hong Kong's efforts to promote environmental awareness and conservation, the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong will participate in the global "Earth Hour" campaign, in which people from around the world will turn off their lights for one hour – 8:30-9:30 p.m. – on March 28, 2009. Many individual Consulate households have also pledged to shut down all non-essential lights and power consumption during "Earth Hour."

"America is committed to working with all nations to conserve resources and protect the environment of this planet we all call home," he added.
