Fulbright Hong Kong Scholar Program Announces 2009 Annual Award Winners

The Fulbright Hong Kong Scholar Program announced yesterday that nine doctoral candidates and two scholars from Hong Kong universities won the 2009 annual awards, which will allow them to conduct research in the United States in 2009 - 2010.

The winners of the Junior Scholars Awards are:

  • Mr. CHAN Chuen Wing, a PhD candidate in biomedical engineering, Hong Kong University
  • Mr. DONG Hao, a PhD candidate in law, City University of Hong Kong
  • Ms. HUANG Ye Dan, a PhD candidate in sociology, Hong Kong University
  • Ms. LIN Ling, a PhD candidate in law, Hong Kong University
  • Mr. LIU Chun Qiang, a PhD candidate in social work, Chinese University of Hong Kong
  • Mr. LIU Wei, a PhD candidate in philosophy, Chinese University of Hong Kong
  • Mr. TANG Ho Lam, a PhD candidate in biology, Chinese University of Hong Kong
  • Ms. TONG Yi Xing, a PhD candidate in accounting, Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Mr. ZHOU Jian Hua, a PhD candidate in chemistry, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Winners of the two Senior Scholar Awards are:

  • Dr. Cecilia CHENG, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Hong Kong University
  • Dr. Leo TJON (Cheung) Kam Tjeng, Professor of Philosophy, Hong Kong Baptist University

This Fulbright program is supported by generous grants from the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the HKSAR, the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong and the Dow Chemical Company. The Hong Kong America Center administers the Fulbright program in Hong Kong on behalf of the RGC and the U.S. Consulate.
