Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate: Promoting Building Energy Efficiency in China

Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky, Senator Maria Cantwell, Chargé d'Affaires Xie Feng of the Chinese Embassy to the United States, and Mike Davis and Meredydd Evans of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) will give remarks at a signing ceremony between PNNL and the U.S. Department of State on December 3 at 9:30 a.m. in the U.S. Department of State's Treaty Room. The organizations will sign a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation under the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate. The event is open for press coverage.

Through this Memorandum of Understanding and a recent Asia Pacific Partnership grant awarded by the Department of State, PNNL will work toward developing and implementing building energy codes in China in two pilot cities. The project is expected to yield significant impacts at both the local and national levels, leading to improved energy efficiency in buildings and the replication of developed implementation designs in other Chinese cities.
