From USS Chafee Public Affairs

HONG KONG (NNS) -- The guided-missile destroyer USS Chafee (DDG 90) arrived in Hong Kong May 11 to conduct a five-day port visit as part of an ongoing effort to enhance relations and interoperability throughout the region.

Chafee is currently deployed to the Western Pacific to strengthen regional maritime partnerships.

Chafee's Commanding Officer Cmdr. Heedong Choi and his crew of approximately 300 Sailors are looking forward to experiencing all that Hong Kong has to offer.

"We feel welcome here. Hong Kong is the best liberty port in the Western Pacific," Choi said.

In addition to enjoying the sights and sounds of Hong Kong, Chafee Sailors will participate in a community service project at the Tao Fong Shan Christian Center. During the project, approximately 20 sailors will repair a stone path.

USS Chafee is homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and is currently deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
